[2009-09-28 23:01:44] 7501234 - Pretty sure the ...Pretty sure the panels will pay for them self in about 2 - 2 1/2 years....Total cost was $7,237 calculating at about 300 a month There is places to get good prices and cheap stuff if you can look in the right places... Maintenance might depend were you live, My buddy hardly ever cleans his panels as they look clean always and we rarely get rain or snow or anything like that... His batteries have been going strong and they are like 7 years old already... What else would you maintenance?
[2009-09-20 17:55:04] gasdorf - the cost is like 12 ...the cost is like 12 year worth of a tripical electric bill.....not including battery maintance and replacement ....i dont see how your saving money

[2009-08-26 04:56:39] Retloth - 10 K...we spent 10K ...10 K...we spent 10K Cdn, our system is amazing. Hooked it right into the main power box....impressive. We can run a washer or dryer, over, anything we want.
[2009-08-01 17:53:12] barnycarparts - Great you got your ...Great you got your rebate in CA (2005) you only got full rebate (18K on a $38K system) if you used a contractor for 100% of the work. You get half ($9k) if you do it by your self so finding a contractor to share the labor under his lic. would be a rarity here in liberal union lobby land.
[2009-07-18 16:19:34] SolarXpert - I just got my 5" ...I just got my 5" monocrystalline solar cells at Solar-Deals(.)com for a great price! I'm going to use these for my DIY solar panel.

[2009-07-02 09:13:32] WoWgasm - I have taken 8 ...I have taken 8 different bids from all this installers and the best i have gotten is $7.70/W installed + permits. Subtracting the $18K rebate still leaves me with $16,765 vs. your $7,237. I need to find a "Steve Cross" here in LA :) All this solar companies are not giving me any option.
[2009-07-02 08:53:49] WoWgasm - The problem home ...The problem home owners are having in getting a solar system is due to all of this new "Solar" companies that charge as much as the cost of all your equipment. + permits. They charge per watt installed. On this video, you have spent $23.8K installed($6.29/W installed). If I was going to get a contractor and get the same number of panels but 215W w/c would generate 4.5kWh DC, this would cost me $36.2K! Thats a $13K difference for a 3-day install. Here in Ca. the usual rate of installed is $8/W.

[2009-06-20 14:10:51] fakiir - because our ...because our ancestors broke their backs to build this country to what it is now. thats why we can be rich. the only way to give the gift of success to the third world is to teach them the way and let them do it for themselves. capitalism and the free market with a government that is free from most corruption is the path to success. not handouts and free rides. that just adds to laziness and stupidity (see: anyone currently living on welfare)
[2009-06-18 14:13:23] silverbird58 - i wish i could ...i wish i could blame al gore fore everything , but al gore didnt turn off the turbine car at indy500. al didnt make tome ogles galaxie 500 go away.

[2009-05-31 06:39:43] wuhlei - im not sure if the ...im not sure if the problem is foreign energy sources. why should we be so rich and other countries so poor?
[2009-05-31 06:35:11] wuhlei - GOD so it cost ...GOD so it cost about 19,800 in materials is that right?
[2009-05-18 10:10:31] lioninetyrant - Actually it's the ...Actually it's the utility companies that are building major solar, wind, thermal, geothermal, tidal, etc systems, and they plan on selling you their Earth generated energy at a premium by controlling access to emerging technology. From Stan Meyer's water fuel cell, to striling engines, to solar to wind. They hate all sources of energy they do not control. Too many people just naively assert it's just a business and monetary issue, wake up. They'll give you it, when you're already able to make it
[2009-05-17 08:21:06] AlexandriaAshbourne - Typicly, overnight ...Typicly, overnight power comes from the utility company still, while hopefully the daytime production exceeds that so you can break even or if fortunate enough, earn some change by feeding more into the grid, than what you consume. No need for batteries, you just sell surplus during the day and buy back some during the evenings.

[2009-05-07 17:29:17] jezuse - government wont pay ...government wont pay for it cause theres money and business in electric companies...and since that is that the solar companies have the ability to charge alot for ur dedication.
[2009-04-08 00:32:31] gumby511 - Not really doing ...Not really doing much to reduce our dependency on foreighn energy sources. there is a 99% chance his power comes from coal. Many get confused with oil and electricity. I blame Al Gore. Great deal on the price though. Would love to get that set up.
[2009-04-01 08:42:07] doggiestyle247 - Solar Panel the ...Solar Panel the thing we see on a calculator as a kid in the 80's. Till now i don't get why they dont put it on every house?? And why it cost so much?? shouldnt the government pay for it?? If you want ur phone line to get hook up. you dont pay for the phone poll!! cause its already handle with the tax money.
[2009-02-17 18:09:01] toadabc - As an electrical ...As an electrical contractor thinking about getting into solar, I am interested in your labor "installation hybred". I am reminded of the old shop poster: $50 per hour, $60 per hour if you watch, $70 per hour if you help. I think you learned a valuable lession seeing all that is involved in the process, and the costs associated with them.
[2009-02-08 11:43:03] TK42138 - Good video and ...Good video and great to see Americans turning to sustainable or renewable energy. It has benefits for the planet but ultimately when all the foreign oil runs out then at least those people who can generate their own electricity can keep the lights on when all about are losing their's. However solar panels have to become much cheaper and a lot more efficient if everyone is to use them.
[2009-01-26 14:59:39] TexasHomeInspector - Good job. I assume ...Good job. I assume that when it's time to replace to roof shingles that the whole unit has to come down first, then be reinstalled after a new roof is put on. And, did you experience any roof leak after the installation? Again, great job.
[2008-10-25 07:26:48] eydaimon - How do you store ...How do you store the power overnight/rainy days etc? many big batteries? what kind and how long/much charge do they hold?
[2008-08-03 23:53:33] asialovesusa - Under $8,000 to ...Under $8,000 to meet this homeowners electric power needs from solar is certainly one of the least cost, environmentally beneficial implementations I have seen to date. Congratulations on being a true patriotic American and doing something to reduce our dependency on foreign energy sources.
