Well it was common practice back then that never, until bunnies, caused issues. They also introduced animals to the US, including boars. Recently it has become an issue, since there are fewer hunters these days to keep the population low. The british liked to bring game to other countries just to have something to hunt, it was a pass time, and they didn't realize what impact it would cause, as there was little known about ecology back then.
