[2011-11-27 02:44:10] below90hz - if you have no ...

if you have no backups of your info, 7 YEARS of photos/videos of your friends, loved ones, partner(s) are invaluable. Imagine losing pictures of ALL your kid's baby to elementary school years. I would gladly spend $700 to get those back.

[2011-11-27 02:29:37] crumbworks - Those prices are ...

Those prices are very high. Seriously, back stuff up. I have my essentials on the cloud, and the rest on BD-R discs. I understand that the guy had a RAID5 array corrupt, which sucks, but most of that was probably unimportant (movies, tv, porn) and the essentials (digicam stuff) could've probably fit on a dozen optical dscs.... 7 years of pictures? If every six months he put the most recent pics on an optical disc, he'd be set. Kept in a cool dry place, those discs would be fine a decade later.

[2011-11-22 06:01:56] Patrunic - So what you're ...

So what you're saying is that 100% of people remove 100% of air and moisture from the bags they place their harddrive in? you're an idiot.

[2011-11-21 18:01:33] FHCTech - I don't see how ...

I don't see how moisture just "appears" inside the drive if you do the freezer trick PROPERLY. If you put the drive in an airtight bag, air/water vapor cannot enter the drive, and therefore there is no moisture to worry about. Downvoted.for baseless fear-mongering and greedy company misinformation.
