One example of many; in a PET scan, a chemical is injected which due to its nature gathers around certain parts of the body. There are unstable isotopes in the fluid which decay to give out positrons (the electron antiparticle). These then annihilate with electrons in the body, causing gamma radiation which is then picked up by detectors to give a picture of the inside of the body.
