Regarding the hand in the LHC question, I'd suggest researching into Anatoli Bugorski, who put his head into a proton beam (of lower energy).

[2012-05-17 08:31:09] Razgrits - I don't think the ...

I don't think the mass on top of the earth changes, those buildings that were there, were there as well before they were built since we just redistributed our resources. Every single human's weight is already compensated by the elements used from them to grow. The shape of the earth is because of the gravity and it's spinning motion. The inertia could be a good reason making the 'sides' go outwards or simply it gathers 'space dust' as it spins adding to it's mass. Or both?

[2012-05-17 03:30:09] enylive - I have a question ...

I have a question that I have never found an answer to, I read that the earth is becoming more and more egg formed so here is my question: Is the reason (if it's true) that earth is becoming that on either side (I know there is no sides to a sphere) let say America and Asia that there is so much mass concentrated in such a small area (big buildings and a lot of people) that the earth's gravity pulls on those sides more, and less on the poles. if you understand what I mean. Please answer, thanks.

The main problem would be the radiation exposure. Even being close to the beam would give you lethal radiation doses in a fairly short time. No need to put your hand in the beam.

Can you put your hand in the LHC? Would the magnetic fields destroy your hand before you managed to put it in, given that your hand is about 70% water, a dipolar molecule?

70 GeV vs. 7 TeV about 100 times as much. So not that great a guide but interesting.
