[2012-03-20 16:52:46] TheElectricRider - Yes, people.. this ...

Yes, people.. this IS Repairing the hard drive BY replacing the bad board. It ( in this case) makes the hard drive work while retaining your critical data. replacing the whole drive is not a repair because you lose all your data - I cannot believe some people will argue over this. The author never said he was repairing the board itself, just the drive itself to make it work again.

[2012-03-16 21:09:33] ndog37 - To repair a circuit ...

To repair a circuit board just replace it. Duh. how is that repairing it? Also what if you don't happen to have the exact identical model to replace it with. This method is only viable for large computer companies.

[2012-03-16 00:00:20] danonolan - Which would be more ...

Which would be more expensive? Repairing the circuit board (time=money) or replacing it? Same situation when people were using floppy drives. Back in the day, it used to be less expensive to realign the head, but after a while, it was cheaper just to replace them.

[2012-03-13 03:25:30] jetskiraycer - Misleading people ...

Misleading people to sell PCBs is unethical. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. You know damn well swapping boards will not recover the data and can acually physically damage the drive further. You probably cost a countless number of people to destroy there data from this practice. But aslong as you make a buck who cares right?

[2012-03-12 18:21:46] RDELAPLAZA - He is using the ...

He is using the same board he removed HA HA HA ! ! It doesn't work that way... There is (specific to that disk) platter error mapping information stored in a EEPROM memory chip in the hard drive, so this is not going to work...

1) New HDD are more complex and there are some data storage on PCB so replacing it won't work! 2) PCB error 25% of the HDD "dead" sounds, 45% physical damage, 25% product line error, 5% other... In my opinion if you going to spend money on dead HDD go to specialist company they will restore your data, or buy new HDD and recycle old one.

my apologies! we removed the cover of the disk, discovering its much like an old vinyl record, but the circuit board is what is making the 'needle' or reading heads malfunction. Timing is out!
