[2011-06-05 11:44:06] rheechashaipu - netbooks aren't ...netbooks aren't horrible for gaming. I own an Asus Eee PC and it plays WC3, Starcraft, WoW, and League of Legends without breaking a sweat. You have to play some of these games on low settings but that isn't a big deal, you get a good gaming experience on the go. Moreover, the new netbooks have the dual core atom processors which have HYPERTHREADING. You get more processing power than a mere 1.66 ghz thanks to hyperthreading.

The point of being on the car ride for me is to get away from things and just enjoy life without all the hookups to technology. I am content to listen to AM/FM radio, gaze upon my surroundings as the car zips down the road. And more likely to nap off several hundred miles without missing a beat. Secondly I never said that long battery life didn't matter.

I'm not into flashing my property around town only for someone to tail me, whack me over the head, and take it from me. That is plain foolish. What I said was "you should plug in when you're going to use it for longer than the battery will last". How is it wasteful to keep a machine plugged in versus running down your battery constantly? Why wouldn't a car charger fit a cigarette lighter socket?

What if you're on a car ride and your "car charger" for some reason doesn't fit, or you figured out wasn't compatible. Now you're on some many-hour car ride and you cannot use it. Long battery life matters a lot.

Netbooks (aka palmtops, ultra slims, slim line, etc) probably are much cooler to use temperature wise. For a .MP3 jukebox they should work just fine. With an Ion GPU they handle full 1080p smoothly. Squinting at a 10 inch screen isn't something I want to do. Apple laptops don't have to be overpriced beasts either but they are.

If the netbook and laptops versions of the OS are the same, there should be no software compatibility difference (excluding those based on hardware). Plus, Quicktime is better. But I think an iPod or other Mp4 player would be better for what you want.

Netbooks: good for pretty much nothing except working the internet. . . slowly. Worse for media/gaming compared to laptops. Mac laptops: extremely lightweight. Laptops don't have to be heavy. Most of them are made heavy because companies are trying to squeeze in too much in a little thing. when it comes to it, I still prefer desktops over laptops.

I like having a 15 inch computer it feels right for me. so far the only people I have seen using netbooks were elementary schoolers and old people everyone else was either using a laptop or mac because they are more practical in the long run.
