It does not make any difference even if you had USB 2.0, you couldn't do that. There is a keyboard and mouse connecter in every motherboard. Search google for more info!

Now if Windows would not have NTFS file system... Compared to EXT 4 Ubuntu uses, NTFS is 2-4 times slower in different tasks. I especially see it on file transfers and opening programs.

[2012-05-12 05:10:12] adamx20 - 'apes with hammers' ...

'apes with hammers' is more accurate. ;) But yeah, that adage holds a lot truth to it. It's not just strength either. Not many people want to floss or sew a peripheral into their device. :D

[2012-05-12 05:05:16] Burnitnow567 - Someone once said a ...

Someone once said a long time ago that computer peripherals will always be large because 'people are monkeys with hammers' and we need things to be strong to survive our brute nature...

[2012-05-11 17:17:20] adamx20 - Because fibre ...

Because fibre optics are made of glass and as such are less resilient. There is also the added component of turning light pulses into electrical impulses.

[2012-05-10 17:38:23] explainingcomputers - I utterly agree. I ...

I utterly agree. I now almost always back-up via USB 3.0 -- even when the drive has a SATA connector. USB 3.0 just wins on easy of use, wide compatability, etc. As you say, the limit is now drive speed. Getting anything to sustainabily shift more than about 4GB a minute between spinning disks remains a major challenge.

[2012-05-09 22:47:18] Burnitnow567 - USB 3 is pretty ...

USB 3 is pretty awesome.. the only choke point now are mechanical harddrives. Cant move data fast enough for me, its ok for megabytes, but horrible on Gigabytes!

[2012-05-09 09:14:54] explainingcomputers - This is a very good ...

This is a very good point. The initial plans for USB 3.0 did use a fibre optic cable to achieve the increased speed (in combination with the legacy wiring), but sadly this did not make it to the final version.

[2012-05-09 02:42:35] Burnitnow567 - Why arent we just ...

Why arent we just using fiber-optics, instead of cables that when you try to plug in one way and feel resistance you flip it over only to find you had it right the first time, and have to flip it again!
