I believe that is correct.
[2011-09-23 09:16:16] MILOPKM - A little annotation ...A little annotation would have done any harm. Such as denoting - Subsonic for the 1st flight. - Transonic flow for 2nd - Sonic for 3rd
[2011-08-24 17:24:09] ponderainnovation - Hi, its really cool ...Hi, its really cool what we contribute. I'm doing the same thing
[2011-07-17 12:33:38] ultrasonictechnology - thanks for ...thanks for explaining
[2011-06-30 22:11:42] StandingRedPanda - Whoa! I finally ...Whoa! I finally found a science video without someone arguing about religion :D But anyway, I have never seen how shockwaves travel when the jet goes faster than the sound. This is fun! So if you would be in front of the jet, you wouldn't hear it at all.

[2011-05-27 19:28:52] zmailzzz - but I can move ...but I can move faster than the right.
[2011-04-27 21:18:22] xCRsoccerboy - i understand iti understand it
[2011-04-20 22:45:15] ladiestreat27 - i finally got it. ...i finally got it. there is no sonic boom that can hit the plane since it moves in all directions AWAY from the plane. so no matter what the plane does, it cannot be hit by the sonic boom. (unless it over shot the sonic boom to the left or right and waited for it to reach it again but that is not realistic.)
[2011-04-20 03:43:58] ELOA23 - yes, that's what ...yes, that's what happens when the aircraft would reach the speed of sound again, but the mach cone it produced while supersonic wouldn't hit it because the "sonic boom" doesn't move on its own and is created by the airplane.
[2011-02-08 02:54:33] ladiestreat27 - so the pilot will ...so the pilot will hear the sound but not the boom since it is going outwards yup i get it now.
[2011-02-06 02:38:00] c03rcion - watch at 0:48. Now ...watch at 0:48. Now imagine if the jet lowered its velocity by 50% at time 0:52.
[2011-02-05 20:25:41] ladiestreat27 - so if the plane ...so if the plane exceeds speed of sound, cruises for a couple seconds, so a good sonice boom is formed, then it slows down. wouldnt that sonic boom or at least that bunch of sound waves close together hit the plane once it goes subsonic???
[2011-02-05 06:28:42] c03rcion - when the speed of ...when the speed of the source of the sound waves (the jet) exceeds the rate at which the waves generated by the source propagate through a medium (the atmosphere), the waves can not out pace the jet (the source) because it is faster. thats why the waves seem to bend at the nose of the aircraft, creating a "cone" image. Its analgous to a fast moving boat leaving a wake in the water. The speed of the boat out paces the rate at which the waves generated by the boat propagate in water.
[2011-01-21 15:18:31] solidbeaver - i suck at these ...i suck at these kinds of stuff :/
[2011-01-01 20:49:49] 2129261184 - Ahhhh....because ...Ahhhh....because your travelling faster than sound LOL
[2010-12-26 07:58:59] YourLoveSerenade - would the sound ...would the sound sound reversed coming from supersonic thing???
[2010-10-13 18:10:42] KALEIDOSCOPEN - can an old railroad ...can an old railroad track continue to hold electricirical charge(?) in rain or tornado, even while operation on the tracks is suspended
[2010-06-11 04:32:57] physicsanimations - If source is moving ...If source is moving away from the stationary observer, then f_d=f / (1+v/u), where u is the velocity of the waves, v is the velocity of jet, f is initial frequency.
[2010-06-10 22:24:56] ladiestreat27 - what if you ...what if you cruising behind the plane while the jet is going supersonic speeds, would you hear high and low frequency at the same time? if so, what does that sound like?
[2010-06-09 21:22:18] ladiestreat27 - why are the waves ...why are the waves not at the front of the plane during transonic speeds? or while traveling speed of sound.
[2010-04-10 08:58:44] aakashmishraa - this is really ...this is really nice demo, its quite easy to understand doppler effect vth it, thanks
[2010-03-08 20:18:11] biscottie83 - this is the ...this is the animation that helps u see how a fast moving object and the sound interacts ..(the circles are sound waves) first plane, slower than the sound.. second plane, braking the sound barrier third plane, faster than the sound
[2010-03-03 00:24:34] EurofighterVsRaptor - huh?huh?
